It seems like every week we get another great artist joining the ranks of our doodlers. This week was no exception and we’re proud to let the world know about Pierre Graf, aka Pit, a freelance illustrator from Lyon, France!

Zombify your world
Artist Spotlight: Pit
Name: Pierre Graf
Location: Lyon, France
Occupation: Physical Therapist / Freelance Illustrator / Wedding Photographer
Found Doodle.ly: via Facebook
Pierre is a physical therapist, but his passion for photography and drawing led him to join the ranks of freelance illustrators and concept designers back in 2010. It’s made his life “a little crazy,” but he’s still found time to travel, meet new and creative people, and even develop a “how to draw” blog.
Pierre says he draws inspiration “from so many artists I can’t make an exhaustive list,” but he’s a big fan of Vermeer, Sargent, and Doisneau, to name a few.

Spitter-Born
Pierre loves the connection that drawing gives him with others: “Drawing is one of my favorite ways to be funny, and to communicate with people I don’t know. I love the emotional impact that drawing has on people.”
When asked about doodling, he equates the experience to “sailing on the sea, you have the absolute liberty of your destination and what you’re going to accomplish.” He also likes how Doodle.ly provides him a “quick and easy way to draw and show some digital lines to the world. I love It. It’s an amazing way to create and share.”
We love it too, Pierre. We’re glad you’re on board.

Look at my wings

After hours of our high-powered CIA computer crunching numbers (we drew out of a hat), apparently it pays to be late to our Doodle of the Week contests because Tom Howland, winner of Week 8, is our overall winner and soon-to-be recipient of an iPad!
Congratulations Tom! We’ll be in touch!
Bask in the glory of Tom’s doodle one more time and ride into the sunset (moonrise?) with the Doodle.ly Owl.

We’re shining the spotlight on another one of our community’s awesome doodlers. Check out the amazing work of ppratiwi, hailing all the way from Indonesia, and read about her love of fables and coffee below.

Warm Feeling
Artist Spotlight: ppratiwi aka Lilipoetz
Name: Putri Pratiwi
Location: Jakarta, Indonesia
Occupation: Art director and freelancer
Found Doodle.ly: via Twitter
Putri loves doodling. “A lot.” She’s an Art Director and Freelancer from Jakarta, Indonesia, who got turned on to Doodle.ly by a friend on Twitter. And while she claims she “isn’t an expert,” we love seeing her work grace our gallery.
Apparently we rank “just behind my coffee in terms of mood-boosting,” but Putri “love[s] the different brushes, and how Doodle.ly takes me on a journey of discovery.” She also likes the social nature of Doodle.ly, and “how easy it is for me and other artists to share and publish work.”

Little Red Riding Hood
Putri’s an absorber of different styles and techniques, and while she doesn’t point to any specific artists as inspiration, she “admires the work of Takashi Murakami, Helen Dardik, and Fifi Lapin.”
Putri’s a lover of fables and bedtime stories, and we think her work brings to life the carefree feelings of childhood in a way that only drawings can. Keep it up Putri!

After 8 weeks of movies, mascots, music and more, we’re sad to say that the first ever Doodle of the Week Contest has come to a close! We couldn’t believe some of the submissions we received over the past two months, and we couldn’t have been happier watching the community grow and develop as doodlers, artists, and dreamers.
So, from the bottom of everyone’s heart here at Doodle.ly THANK YOU for all of your doodles, it has been a pleasure looking through them all.
For the final week we asked everyone to draw their own take on the Doodle.ly Owl, and the submissions were awesome!
We had to go with Tom Howland’s Doodle.ET for our final winner, but this was the toughest week by far for us to decide.
Don’t forget to check out our other great entries, and stay tuned next week when we announce the WINNER of the iPad!

Congratulations Jon Stollberg, you’re the winner of our seventh Doodle of the Week! We asked for hobbies and pastimes, and Jon doodled one of the more unique ones for sure. We don’t know many pottery makers, but if it’s anything like that scene from Ghost, it looks like a great way to pass the time!
We’re sad to say it but we have ONE MORE Doodle of the Week contest. So this is it, secure your place in doodling history and lock up your chance to win an iPad!
For our final week, we want our Ambassadors to get out there and get their communities to re-imagine the Doodle.ly Owl. Lets see all the fun ways the Doodle.ly Owl can be portrayed, put in funny positions, and do wacky things. We’re excited to see what everyone can come up with!
Don’t forget to check out our other great doodles as well!

Devils Fans Cheering on the Team with Doodle.ly Rally Rags in Hand
We couldn’t have been more excited to share New Jersey’s first home playoff game in over a year with them. While we left the skating to the professionals, we were proud to do our part in the stands and help all of the loyal New Jersey fans support their team.
Last night’s game marked the culmination of our partnership with the Devils, and what an experience it was. New Jersey’s contest was truly a first of its kind usage of Doodle.ly, and with hundreds of fan-submitted doodles flooding Facebook and over 10,000 votes submitted, the program was awesome to watch unfold.
For all their hard work, 10 finalists of the Devils’ Doodle Contest were sent to Fan Appreciation night on April 7th. Jessica Chepauskas, the overall winner, got her doodle printed on 17,000 Rally Rags and attended last night’s game with her family!

This week we are proud to present Valentino Valdez from Hawaii. Valentino is a graphic designer for the University of Hawaii- West Oahu, and is also the owner of Valentino Valdez Design. He’s most inspired by comic book artists Jim Lee and Erik Larsen.
Why he likes doodle.ly? “I design all day on a desktop, working in Photoshop, InDesign. It just feels nice to get back to my roots, take out some paper (and now, the iPad), and just draw.”
He first heard of us in an article on TheNextWeb.com and fell in love with the simple interface, the great drawing tools, and the awesome sharing features.
“You have an amazing artist’s toolbox at your fingertips… Literally. No mess, easy undos and erasing… and you can draw in your underwear!” Surely, we can’t argue with that.
Check out Valentino’s fun doodles below and follow him @valdezign!

Doodlicious by LollyShop
Congratulations to LollyShop who helped Doodle.ly welcome in Spring with some style!
It’s always great watching the seasons change in front of your eyes, and we liked the unique way she doodled some blossoming flowers. As we bust out our shorts and t-shirts, LollyShop’s doodle reminded us of how awesome it is to see nature come back to life.
Doodle of the Week is almost over! Sad, we know. For week 7 we want to see what our Doodlers are really passionate about. Show us your favorite hobbies, pastimes, and extracurricular activities. Show us what makes you unique, fun, and different from the rest! Whether it’s your favorite sport to play, a doodle that shows off all the books you like to read, or maybe you collect stamps…whatever!
Don’t forget to check out the other awesome Spring-related doodles we got too!

Best Show Ever by Tyler Hedge
“We have to go back!”
And back we went when we saw Tyler Hedge’s take on the amazing LOST, one of our favorite shows in recent memory!
Another great round of Doodle of the Week and another winner crowned, and each day we move closer to giving away our iPad to one lucky doodler!
Tyler really knew how to get to us this week, and his treatment of the classic Friends title screen locked him in a runner up position as well. We also saw great entries from Michael Thomas, who brought the glitz and glam of SMASH to life, and bigArtLP, who drew your friendly neighborhood serial killer Dexter.
For week 6 we’ll shift gears a bit and embrace the warm weather that is on the way. Spring has sprung at Doodle.ly so expect to see lots of Easter bunnies, baseball diamonds, and chirping birds welcoming the change of season.
Don’t forget to check out our other great entries too!
